Biography

I'm a doctoral researchers in the School of English at the University of St Andrews, researching narratives of whistleblowing in contemporary non-fiction, fiction, and media, under the supervision of Dr James Purdon. I also work as Academic Policy Officer (Quality) leading and supporting projects which deliver the University’s Education and Student Experience strategic priorities, and ensuring the University meets its own and external education quality assurance requirements.

I read English Studies and Linguistics & Phonetics at the University of Cologne and University College London, and hold an MA in English Studies and Comparative Studies.

Research interests

My research and teaching interests include representations of espionage and secrecy from the 18th to the 21st century, media and form, contemporary forms of cultural production, theatre studies, and inter-, cross-, and transdisciplinary approaches towards reading and interpreting fiction. I am particularly invested in the productive deconstruction of disciplinary boundaries in the humanities and seek to explore new ways of reading fiction outside its historical and cultural context(s).

I have experience working as a research assistant, particularly in regard to Higher Education research and producing literature reviews:

Other expertise

I am affiliated with the Centre for Research into Information, Surveillance & Privacy (CRISP) of the University of St Andrews. I was the Postgraduate Academic Convenor for the St Andrews Students' Association during the academic year 2022/23. Additionally, I am a member of, and since September 2023, the secrectary for the Executive Council of the British Association for Contemporary Literary Studies. I am also a member of the German Association for the Study of British Cultures and the British Comparative Literature Association. 

In my role as Academic Policy Officer (Quality), I am a member of Academic Assurance Group, Academic Monitoring Group, and the CELPiE Steering Group.
