Research overview

My work concerns the Romantic poet John Clare, and issues within comparative literature and reception history that emerge from such study. My PhD concerns the variegated ways contemporary poets make use of Clare, in the context of urbanisation, industrialisation, and the climate crisis. I am working on various papers that have emerged from this project, such as thinking about Clare's paucity in translation: how dialect verse may be rendered in translation.

I received a First in English and Related Literature at the University of York and an MSt from St. Benet's Hall, Oxford in Nineteenth Century Literature. I have also written for The Guardian, The Tablet, and Catholic HeraldI have also published a poetry collection with Littoral Press, Poems Sketched Upon the M60.  One of my poems was recently featured in BBC Radio 3's Words and Music, and my whimsically maudlin poetry has appeared in various online and print publications, such as Amethyst Review and Poet's Directory.
