Personal profile

Research overview

My research is concerned with the synthesis and characterisation of novel electrode materials for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries.  There is particular emphasis in correlating structure and properties using powder X-ray and neutron diffraction combined with electrochemical studies. We have pioneered the use of powder neutron diffraction to study the evolution of structures of battery materials as a function of charge/discharge.  I am project leader on the Faraday Institution sodium-ion battery project NEXGENNA
