Research overview

P. Anh Nguyen is PhD candidate in International Relations at the University of St Andrews, working under Professor Karin M. Fierke and Dr Catherine Jones. Before coming to St Andrews, she completed her Master of Philosophy in International Peace Studies at Trinity College Dublin and her Bachelor of Social Science in International Relations at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan. The working title of her doctoral thesis is “Feeling Nuclear Weapons: Northeast Asian Memories and Emotional Underpinnings”. Her research focuses on the trilateral diplomatic relationships between North Korea, China and Japan on the ongoing nuclear debate in Northeast Asia. Her project spotlights a specifically East Asian perspective on denuclearisation in North Korea and offers an emotional lens to view North Korea and its relations with China and Japan.
