The history of objects and how they have been collected, exhibited and kept within private collections and museums collections.

Marketing in museums, the approach to visitors. Strategies in museums to attract bigger publics and stablish a communication system with a decolonised, universal, integral way of acting.

Research overview

Through the analysis of a case study in Chiapas, Mexico, follow the history of museums and collections and their relationship with the cultures that created them. Study how different museums with similar collections interact with the indigenous communities creators of the objects.  Are the artisans who created the objects included in the conversation on decolonising museums?

Projects from former institutions

Teaching Children to Grow Forests in Chiapas

Spearheaded a hands-on environmental education initiative, engaging local children in learning how to grow and care for forests. This project fosters an early awareness of climate change and sustainability, with a focus on reforestation in the Chiapas region. In collaboration with local schools, through this project children from schools in the native communities of Chiapas are producing native trees to reforest their territories. The schools participating in the project create their own tree nursery in school grounds.

Maya Planetarium support and Grant applications

With a team of experts in planetariums, science and education, we created and launched Maya skies. An educational space dedicated to exploring Maya cosmology and astronomy. This project integrates indigenous knowledge with modern scientific perspectives, attracting a wide range of visitors and promoting cultural heritage. Children from indigenous communities in the state of Chiapas, Mexico attend the planetarium to learn about the importance of ancient mayas in the science. In addition, through the project teachers are being trained on how to use science and different strategies to integrate STEM topics in their curricula.

Exhibitions for Indigenous Artisans

Coordinated ten exhibitions that feature the work of artisans from indigenous communities, showcasing traditional craftsmanship and promoting economic opportunities for local artisans. These exhibitions emphasize cultural preservation while supporting sustainable livelihoods.

Community Collaboration Initiatives

Led several interdisciplinary and intercultural collaborations between the museum and surrounding indigenous communities. These initiatives include educational programs, cultural exchanges, and participatory research, fostering a strong relationship between Na Bolom and the local population.

Interdisciplinary & Intercultural Projects

Directed a series of interdisciplinary projects that integrate art, history, ecology, and cultural studies. These projects encourage dialogue between different cultural perspectives, contributing to the museum’s mission of preserving both the natural and cultural heritage of the region.
