Research overview
Parth is currently undertaking a PhD investigating spatial and contextual aspects of migrant and ethnic minority employment, family, and housing in the UK as part of the ERC-funded MigrantLife project led by Professor Hill Kulu. The project will improve our understanding of how various contextual and spatial factors (e.g. regional labour and housing markets) shape the life trajectories of immigrants and their descendants.
Currently, Parth is organising PopFest 2025, the annual postgraduate population studies conference, taking place in Southampton as part of their role as the BSPS Postgraduate Representative. Parth has previously held responsibilities within the School of Geography and Sustainable Development including as the Communications Officer, Celebrating Social Science events helper, and organising committee member for the European Population Conference 2024 in Edinburgh. Parth also contributes to computer lab demonstrating and marking at the sub-honours and honours level including on (advanced) quantitative methods modules.
Outside of the School, Parth has been awarded affiliate student status at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock, Germany. They are also the Postgraduate Representative for the British Society for Population Studies.
Parth holds a first-class degree in BSc Population and Geography and a distinction in MSc Social Research Methods with Applied Statistics (distinction in Master's thesis) both from the University of Southampton.
