Mitchell R. Bradford Jr. is an EAP Lecturer and teacher trainer at the University of Waikato Joint Institute at Hangzhou City University. Hailing from Arkansas in the South of the US, the former football coach holds a degree in Foreign Languages (Spanish with a French minor) from Southern Arkansas University. Mitchell studied Spanish and K'iche' (a Mayan language) in Guatemala as well as French in Montréal, Québec, Canada. He completed a TESOL MA at the University of Nottingham-Ningbo, China and also holds a DELTA. Mitchell has taught English, Spanish, French, and Intercultural Communication courses in the US, Guatemala, and China from kindergarten to university and has also trained teachers. Additionally, he has served as a Virtual English Language Educator for the U.S. Department of State’s English Language Program working with university students in Ukraine. He also helps with teacher training courses/events held by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) at the US embassy in Beijing which included him training teachers from around Asia at an event in Thailand. Mitchell has published and presented research internationally about EAP, virtual education, and Intercultural Communication in English and Spanish. When back home in the US, he delivers talks and workshops about world cultures and TESOL at local schools. Mitchell’s studies explore the challenges of EAP teachers (and students) at Sino-Foreign institutions and teacher professional development
