Research overview
MAx is a PhD candidate at the University of St Andrews supervised by Dr Sian Lewis and Dr Andrea Brock, whose project explores the relationship between environment, economy and politics in Boiotia over the 1st millennium BC. More broadly, his research interests are in environmental archaeology, micro-region histories outside of the traditional centres of Attica, Laconia and Asia Minor as well as the reception of Ancient History and Classics in the cricket journalism of political theorist and anti/post-colonial writer C.L.R James
He completed Bachelors of Commerce and Arts with Honours at the University of Queensland and a Master of Arts in Classics at University College London. He is a recipient of the Ronald M Smith Trust scholarship.
