Personal profile
Research overview
My research centres around representations of women in early British narrative photography, particularly as related to literary, mythological, historical, and classical imagery. By making direct comparisons between how women were portrayed by male and female amateur photographers, as well as by investigating trends in the inspiration for these images, I search for evidence of disparities in the male and female perception of the cultural and gender roles of middle and upper class women of the Victorian era.
