Research overview

Manxi Cheng is a PhD candidate supervised by Dr Chris Ogden. His academic interests are constructivism, nationalism, and Chinese Foreign Policies. His doctoral research focuses on the changing Chinese national identity in the 21st century, integrated with Social Identity Theory.

Before the doctoral degree study, Manxi achieved a Bachelor's degree in English and International Studies from China Foreign Affairs University, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and a postgraduate degree in international relations from the University of Edinburgh. Outside academia, he has working experience in media, including China Central Television (CCTV) and Asia Pacific Daily.
