Research overview
I am a third-year PhD candidate in Hispanic Studies, working under the supervision of Dr Eleni Kefala and Dr Elodie Laügt at the University of St Andrews.
My thesis analyses the monstrous reconfigurations of traditional figures of the fantastic and horror genres in the works of Argentine author Mariana Enríquez, and how these monsters, underpinned by critical representations of violence, power, and sexuality, are utilised to interrogate recent Argentine history, particularly the latest military dictatorship occurred between 1976 and 1983 and the subsequent period of political, social and economic instability that endures to this date.
