Biography

Lynn joined the University in October 2019 and has been the Programme Director for On Campus PGT TESOL at the International Education and Lifelong Learning Institute (IELLI) since December 2021. Since joining the university, she has participated in IELLI working groups to develop coherent policies on assessment and good academic practice.

 

Before St. Andrews, Lynn spent 9 years in the role of Head of English at the International Study Centre at Lancaster University where she was responsible for:

- the continuing professional development and management of the EAP teaching team;

- development, delivery and quality assurance of Research Skills and Academic Literacies modules on International Foundation and Pre-

  masters programmes.

- development, delivery and quality assurance of both bespoke, discipline-specific and general in-sessional support workshops.

- development, delivery and quality assurance of UG and PG pre-sessional programme programmes. 

 

Prior to returning to the UK in 2009 to complete her Masters degree at Lancaster University, Lynn worked with the British Council in South Korea, Thailand, Slovakia and Portugal and was involved in a range of projects including:

- Editor of the Teacher Development magazine 'In English!' (Portugal);

- Teacher training projects at primary, secondary and tertiary level (Thailand, Slovakia, Portugal);

- Training the trainer (Thailand).

 

Teaching activity

I currently teach on the following MSc TESOL modules: Linguistics for language teachers and Teaching young learners and previously co-ordinated and taught on Assessment and Evaluation in Education. I also supervise Masters dissertations.

Lynn also teaches the Communicating in Academic Contexts 2 module on the International Foundation Programme and has recently redeveloped the module around the theme of transcultural communication, integrating opportunities for the development of digital skills competencies.
