Biography

Louis Nguyen is Professor of Finance at Durham University. He took up the role of Honorary Professor at the University of St Andrews School of Management in 2021, having been a Lecturer in Banking and Finance at the School from 2015 to 2018. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Computing from the National University of Singapore, an MSc (Distinction) in Accounting, Finance and Management from the University of Bristol, and a PhD in Finance from the University of Edinburgh.

Louis has been a regular speaker at international conferences and meetings organised by central banks, governments, and international organisations including the Federal Reserve Banks of New York and St Louis and the Dutch Central Bank.

Research overview

Louis' research and teaching interests are corporate finance, financial intermediation, household finance and climate finance. His most recent research project focuses on corporate climate risk management.

Louis' work has been published in leading journals across disciplines, including the Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of FinanceReview of Corporate Finance Studies, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, and Journal of International Business Studies. His research has been featured in the Harvard Business Review, the BBC, and Forbes.
