Research overview

I am currently part of a group researching the transition of international foundation students into, through and beyond undergraduate studies.  I am also very interested how to develop students' academic integrity literacies.

Teaching activity

I currently teach and coordinate on modules for international students intending to study medicine in the UK. I teach on the MSc Technology for Teaching module.  I supervise master's students on MSc TESOL/MSc International Education programmes. 

I have over 20 years of experience teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in the UK and Europe.

  • Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (2017)
  • MEd Applied Linguistics - The Open University (2006)
  • CertTESOL (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) - Trinity (2001)
  • MA(Hons) English Literature and Language - University of Glasgow (1999)
