Research overview

Kiara DeVore is a current PhD candidate in the School of Classics at the University of St Andrews, supervised by Professor Myles Lavan. She is funded by the Guthrie Mortification Scholarship. She completed her BA in History with a minor in Spanish and a certification program in Digital Humanities from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (2021). In 2022, she completed her MLitt at the University of St Andrews.

Her work examines the formation of military insubordination narratives within Roman historical writing, looking to establish in-depth frameworks in military narrative writing from early to late Rome.

She has previously worked as a Teaching Assistant in various courses in her undergraduate. 

Her research lies in Roman military writing and warfare, Roman historiography, and cultural identity.
