Dr. Argomaniz's primary research interest lies in terrorism and political violence in Europe. His work has examined the impact of counter-terror policies, the relationship between crime and violent extremism, and international cooperation against terrorism, with a specific focus on how the European Union responds to transnational threats.
He is also interested in the effects of political violence, particularly the relationship between victimhood and radicalisation, as well as the political activism by victims of terrorism.
Additionally, he has a specific interest in civil resistance and social mobilisation against terrorism, as well as the role of civil society in peacebuilding and preventing violent extremism.
