Research overview
Ian Bonze is a current Ph.D. student in the School of Classics at the University of St Andrews, supervised by Dr. Carlos Machado. His project explores the role of credit in social relations in the 4th and 5th centuries AD, through the analysis of the Theodosian Code. His research interests lie in Roman Law, Economic Anthropology, and Late Antique Studies.
Ian holds a MA in Comparative History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2020-2022), and a BA in History from the same university (2015-2019). His MPhil thesis examined the impact of the Christianization of the Roman Empire on credit in the 4th and 5th centuries AD under the supervision of Dr. Deivid Gaia.
