Iñaki Larrínaga is a PhD candidate in the School of Classics at the University of St Andrews, supervised by Professor Alex Long and funded by the Guthrie Mortification Scholarship and a School of Classics Handsel. He holds a Research Master's in Philosophy (cum laude) from Utrecht University, completed under the supervision of Dr Mauro Bonazzi, and a BA in Philosophy (with the highest honours) from Universidad Panamericana, Mexico.
Iñaki's PhD project examines the notion of godlikeness in Plato's Republic and Laws. The project argues that Plato's use of notions of godlikeness cannot be reduced to a merely ethical or normative ideal. By analysing its incorporation into the Republic and the Laws, Iñaki's thesis aims to show the importance of godlikeness for Plato's political philosophy and his ideas on religion and piety, thus revealing the interconnectedness of politics, theology and religion in Plato's thought.
