Biography
Halliru Ishaq Abdulwahab is a PhD researcher in Accounting and Corporate Sustainability and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of St Andrews, United Kingdom. He is a fully funded doctoral scholar currently in his second year of study, having successfully passed his annual review.
He holds an MSc in Accounting from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, and brings substantial professional experience to his academic work, including over ten years in financial accounting and auditing, and eight years in tax and financial consultancy. This background informs his teaching and research, particularly in areas related to corporate reporting, governance, and regulatory compliance.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant at St Andrews, Halliru supports undergraduate teaching in accounting-related modules.
His doctoral research, “Leadership and Control: The Impact of CEO Expertise and Ownership Structure on ESG Decoupling in the UK’s Regulated ESG Environment,” examines how leadership and ownership heterogeneity influence the credibility of ESG reporting. His research interests include corporate governance, ESG disclosure, Sustainability reporting, and financial reporting quality.
