Erven obtained both her PhD and MSc from the University of St Andrews. Her PhD in Economics was fully funded jointly by the Scottish Institute for Research in Economics and the University of St Andrews. Her MSc in International Strategy and Economics was fully funded by the British Chevening Scholarship. She completed her MSc with a Distinction, winning the Dr John B Henderson Prize for achieving the highest overall course grade among her cohort. Her BSc in Accounting and Finance, which she completed with a First Class Honours, was awarded by the University of London in association with the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to her academic pursuit, Erven had a fruitful career at the corporate taxation department of Deloitte Singapore. Her research interests include the intersection between economic development and various socio-political and development issues such as inequality, corruption, environment, sustainability, governance, and politics.
