Biography
Dr Cinla Akinci is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) of Management at University of St Andrews Business School. Previously she held academic positions at the University of Surrey's Business School.
Cinla received her PhD in Management from University of Surrey. She also holds MSc in International Business Management from University of Surrey, and BA(Hons) in Business and Economics from Trent University (Canada). In 2013, she attained the Fellow status of the UK Higher Education Academy.
Cinla’s research focuses on intuition in decision making in organisational contexts. She is particularly interested in exploring uncertain decision environments. She has undertaken extensive fieldwork both with public (e.g. police and emergency services) and private organisations (e.g. global corporations) to investigate the use of intuition in strategic and operational decision making processes.
Cinla’s research has been published in leading journals including Organization Studies, British Journal of Management, Human Resource Management Journal, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, and International Journal of Management Reviews. Her research has been funded by the British Academy/ Leverhulme Trust, Carnegie Trust, and The College of Policing.
Cinla is the Director of Impact in the Department of Management, Programme Director for MSc Management, and is a member of the Global Research Centre for Diverse Intelligences.
Her previous career experience includes business development in the finance sector and project management in non-governmental organisations.
