Charis is Professor of Medicine at University of St Andrews and Consultant Infectious Diseases Physician in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. She leads health data science and multidisciplinary reseach in applied infection epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Specific priority areas include the role of multimorbidity, polypharmacy, ageing, and health inequalities on infection risk and outcomes, and diagnostic stewardship. She is NHS Research Scotland (NRS) Clinical Lead / NIHR Senior Investigator in Infectious Diseases, and academic representative on the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group.
