Personal profile
Research overview
I started my PhD in 2025 in the School of History under the supervision of Professor Andrew Pettegree and Dr Arthur der Weduwen.
My research is on translations of European literature into Arabic and translations of Middle Eastern literature into English during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. I am using book history methods to consider the motivations, methods of translation and circulation, readership and influence of these translations. I am interested in the relationship between the Middle East and Britain during this period and in bringing a more nuanced perspective on what is often seen as an imperial colonial relationship, considering instead a two way exchange of ideas and influences.
