Teaching activity

Andrew is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine.

He is Head of the Education Research Divison and Deputy Programme Director of the Scottish Graduate Entry Medical Programme (ScotGEM).

Andrew is an anatomist and forensic anthropologist by training and teaches on a range of subjects in the School of Medicine, including ScotGEM Case Based Learning eLearning and plenaries, medical ethics and generative artificial intelligence.

Andrew's research interests are related to the use of technology in health professions education, including Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL), telehealth and generative artificial intelligence.

Andrew writes a free newsletter about his research and AI in MedEd. 

Industrial relevance

Andrew leads SimPatient: an AI-powered patient simulator that allows Medical Schools to scale their communcation skills teaching.

Andrew has also provided consultancy for the EdTech industry for various publishers and eLearning providers.
