Personal profile

Research overview

My research interests are wide-ranging, encompassing fields as diverse as critical pedagogy, inclusive curricula, internationalisation of (higher) education, and cultural studies, all of which are directed by my expertise in queer theory.

My scholarship in critical pedagogy, literary criticism and film studies has found home in presses such as Routledge and Bloomsbury, testifying to the versatility of my use of English for Academic Purposes (EAP), which, in turn, informs my curriculum design and praxis.

Recent dissertations that I have supervised include an examination of the importance of feminist pedagogy in the TESOL classroom post #MeToo; an analysis of the representations of protected characteristics (such as gender, sexual orientation, and disability) in ELT textbooks published in the UK after the Equality Act 2010; and a study into the affective barriers to student engagement with feedback in pre-sessional courses in EAP.
