Research overview
Amira Hussain (SFHEA) is a doctoral researcher of IELLI at the University of St Andrews. Her doctoral research explores how British transational education is enacted through everyday academic and language work in Gulf branch campuses and with the consequences for identity and participation.
Alongside her doctoral work Amira teaches English for Academic Purposes on the Foundation Programme specialising in Advanced Academic Skills and postgraduate dissertation support. She previously held curriculum coordination responsibilities across Foundation provision and has worked in the Middle East and Central Asia.
Amira is a committee member of the BALEAP Transnational Education Special Interest Group and has chaired the Action Research Conference at the University of Birmingham Dubai annually supporting practitioner research across school contexts.
