Research overview

Alba is a doctoral student in the department of Chinese studies working under the supervision of Professor Gregory Lee and Professor Jordi Larios. Sitting at the confluence of Chinese studies, Hispanic studies, and postcolonial studies, her PhD thesis explores the ways in which the modernist writer Dai Wangshu 戴望舒 (1905-1950) engaged with and represented "Spain" in his essays and translations during a period that spans two decades, from 1928 to 1948.

Research interests

Intellectual and cultural history of twentieth-century China, modern Chinese literature, colonialism, fascism, literary and cultural contact between China and Spain.
