Narrative

This document presents the findings of the MOSAiC and SAS expeditions in the Central Arctic Ocean. The research improves the knowledge of the ecosystem and fish stocks in the area. The study involved multiple work packages, including hydroacoustics of fish and fish habitats, in situ optics and zooplankton acoustics, fish prey availability and quality, fish samples and sediment otoliths. The study provides new insights into the distribution and abundance of fish species in the Central Arctic Ocean and highlights the importance of continued research in this area. The findings of the study have implications for fish stock modeling and management, and recommendations are provided for the Joint Programming Initiative on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Research in the Arctic (JPSRM) of the Central Arctic Ocean Fisheries Agreement (CAOFA).
