Description of impact

In 2011 the Scottish Government commissioned a systematic review and development of a matrix of evidence-based interventions for managing and treating challenging behaviours in individuals with intellectual disabilities. The output is publically available to guide clinicians and services. The range of challenging behaviours includes self-injurious behaviour, aggression, and stereotypical repetitive behaviour. The matrix was developed in a Policy context within National Health Service HEAT targets in Health improvement, Efficiency and governance, Access to services and Treatment appropriate to individuals.
