Motion Anti-Predation Strategies and The Visual System (thesis data)

Dataset

Description

The attached data files underpin the thesis publication “Motion Anti-Predation Strategies and The Visual System”. The following file types and formats are included:
- .csv: Main data files for analysis (can be opened with spreadsheet software or text editors).
- .txt: Automatically generated session logs (readable with text editors). These are included for completeness but were not used in analysis.
The data files are stored in the folder corresponding to the experimental chapter for which they were collected (e.g., Ch3_Data, Ch4_Data, Ch5_Data). These are all within the overarching folder labelled 200032138_Underpinning_Data.
The Ch3_Data folder contains data from participants who were recruited via Pavlovia and Prolific (online research platforms) to complete an online experiment designed using PsychoPy (open-source experiment builder). The subfolder Ch3_omitted_data includes data files that were collected but excluded based on the study’s exclusion criteria.
The Ch4_Data folder contains data from participants recruited via Prolific to complete an online experiment designed using PsychoPy. This folder is organized into three subfolders:
1. data: includes all data files used in this chapter’s results section.
2. omitted: includes data files that were excluded based on the study’s exclusion criteria.
3. returned: includes data files from Prolific participants who returned the study without completing it.
The Ch5_Data folder contains data from participants who completed an in-person virtual reality (VR) experiment. It is divided into two subfolders:
1. Full_trials – contains data files for each participant who completed the full main experiment.
2. Practice – contains data files from the practice trials completed by each participant prior to the main experiment.
More details are provided in the ReadMe.txt file which is a lone file in the 200032138_Underpinning_Data folder.
The data files are embargoed until 12/05/2029
