Description
The dataset contains the raw data on which the 'Handbook of Latin Phonetics' (Edizioni LAS, in press for opensource digital publication) is based. This contribution offers an introduction to Latin phonetics (in Latin) and, for the first time ever, the IPA phonetic transcription of both Classical and Ecclesiastical Latin, including information on the accentuation, prosody, and syllabication of the 6000 most frequent Latin lemmas.
The dataset was authored by Tommaso Spinelli, while the introduction was co-authored by Tommaso Spinelli and Cletus Pavanetto.
The data builds on some of the results obtained from the Latin Diachronic Database and the First Python Phonetic Transcriber (IPA) for Classical and Ecclesiastical Latin, two digital programs that were designed and co-developed by Tommaso Spinelli and Giacomo Fenzi (https://zenodo.org/record/2562829).
