Description

Each NetCDF file contains Lagrangian trajectories for the four experiments A, B, N and O discussed in the paper. The particles are advected using the full velocity field (e.g. "expA.np4000nt6000.nc"), or the "fluctuating" velocity field (e.g. "expAnomean.np4000nt6000.nc"), i.e., the full velocity field minus the mean flow.

Each particle has a unique identifier ID and its position (x, y) in meters, and velocity components (ux, uy) in meters per second are available over the trajectory.  Coordinates are tracer (particle ID) and time (in seconds).

The data can be read in Python using

import xarray as xr
drifters = xr.open_dataset('expA.np4000nt6000.nc')

Scripts for data processing and figures are available at https://github.com/dlemasqu/xdispersion/tree/main/paper_RSTA25_Lemasquerier, which is a fork of https://github.com/miniufo/xdispersion.
