Data collected by observing the formation and disbanding of roosting groups of Eurasian Oystercatchers at Eden Estuary (Scotland). Data follows the departures and arrivals of birds to the flock. allOystercatcherRawData.csv (paired with code "allOystercatcherRawData.R"): Day = survey day, group = group ID, time = time of behaviour during survey, behaviour = behaviour recorded, zone = zone number of bird, no inv = number of individuals performing the behaviour, countin = total group size, mintill = minutes until high tide. All further columns were simply used to calculate minutes until high tide (timetill, timeplus, start, hightide). oikDistData.csv (paired with R code "spatial and temporal clumpiness.R"): Same as above. timebetw = the time between that bird and the previous bird departing, zonedist = the distance (number of zones) from the previous departing bird, timebetw2 = the time between that bird and the 2nd previous bird departing, zonedist2 = the distance (number of zones) from the 2nd closest previous departing bird. quorumResponseCalc.csv (paired with R code "Sigmoid code.R"): Group = group ID., dep.group = size of departing group, gr.size = size of group at time of departure, prob = probability of a bird departing from the group largeDepartAndTide.csv (paired with R code "Tide and No. large departures.R): group = group ID, tide = category of tide height, number.events = number of large departures which occured at that tide height (large departure = over 10 individuals)
