Dataset

Description

Binary projections files associated with "A bottleneck for star formation: the importance of magnetic fields during the formation of cold gas in galaxies" by McGuinness, Smith, & Whitworth 2025. The data is free to use provided the original publication and source is clearly attributed.

Full details of the low metallicity dwarf galaxy simulation used can be found in the above papers. For all queries, contact rjs22 @ st-andrews.ac.uk
Files provided are projection (5kpc diameter centred on the galaxy centre) of the
density - Column density
xH2 - molecular hydrogen abundance relative to protons
xHP - ionised hydrogen abundance relative to protons, from which HI abundance can be calculated from conservation law
magnetic_proj - the projected magnetic field strength in each dimension

For the original Arepo voronoi grids (and assistance in reading them) please contact the authors.
