Injustice & the Casting of Blame in History: the Melville Monument and Edinburgh's Confrontation with its Imperial Past

Press/Media: Relating to Research

Description

This article for History Reclaimed was written to combat the distortion of the record of Henry Dundas over the abolition of the slave trade in the British empire in the 1790s and 1800s. It was written in consequence of the placing of a grossly misleading, mendacious and decontextualised plaque at the foot of the Melville Monument in Edinburgh by the City Council.
