This was a public lecture by Professor Geoffrey Parker (The Ohio State University), Carnegie Centenary Professor visiting St Andrews in April-July 2016, at the University of Glasgow. As his host and managing organiser for the entirety of his visit to Scotland as the visiting professor, I arranged for this public lecture to be held by the Department of History at Glasgow.
