Description
Our project on the history of Royal Society journal publishing was unusual both for being strongly archival and for covering such a substantial historical period. The archival records enabled us to go behind the printed page, and to explore how journals were organised, edited and financed. The long time-frame encouraged us to think about how those issues changed over the course of centuries, and this need to ‘think big’ led to some of our most significant contributions, not only to historical research but also to current debates about scholarly communication. In this talk, I will take you ‘behind the scenes’ of our project to reflect on the things I am proud to have achieved (and some things we failed to achieve).Period | 18 Nov 2024 |
