Description

The Evolution Science & Society initiative, led by editorial co-chair D. J. Futuyma and organisational co-chair T. R. Meagher, was established to develop a policy document for evolutionary biology. With funding from the Sloan Foundation and NSF, a working group of 18 prominent evolutionary biologists generated content for the final documents. The final documents were published in 1999 (30,000 copies in total with a wide distribution in the US, Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe) and have been reprinted in BioScience, the American Naturalist. Translations into Spanish, Portuguese and Italian are also available.
