Description
1.5 day workshop with representatives of bottlenose dolphin research and management/policy from Ireland, Northern Ireland, France and the UK. The workshop's objectives were to investigate the potential for improved international collaboration for the benefit of the species' conservation, to explore the pressures acting on this mobile high trophic-level species and to help contextualise the next Habitats Directive assessment and reporting of this species' conservation status in 2018-19.
I provided a presentation about the current knowledge on the bottlenose dolphin population off the East coast of Scotland, representing the work carried out by the University of Aberdeen Lighthouse Field Station and SMRU (University of St Andrews) since the late 1980s.
