Description
Tay-5G is a project (Project) funded as part of Tay Cities Deal (TCD) and will deliver Pathfinder and Challenge Fund use case trials in Tay Cities Region (TCR) including through the provision of grant support. The project is led by Dundee City Council (DCC) and is named in TCD as “5G Digital Testbeds” as signed on 17th December 2020. The Scottish Government offered £2m to fund use case trials in TCR and both they and the UK Government (DCMS) have been reviewing the Business Case. Use case trials will be delivered in collaboration with partners over the period from 2021/22 to 2024/25. The Tay5G Project Board (the Board) is established pursuant to the Business Case for the project. The Board will report to the TCD Digital Thematic Board (DTB) currently chaired by the Director of DCC City Development in Dundee. The DTB reports to the TCD Management Group and ultimately to the TCD Joint Committee. The project has also been and will continue to be developed in close collaboration with Scottish Futures Trust and in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders.The Board’s mission is to oversee the [successful] delivery of the Project. As part of this, [where possible], it will help the Project by leveraging excellent links across the national and international innovation landscape towards forging a vibrant regional ecosystem bringing together research, technology providers, investment and vertical industry partners. The Board is a vital part of the Project’s operations. It provides advice, guidance and support for the aims of the Project, as well as providing impartial including industry-focused advice to the Project.
