Description

Talk in local school about ice breakers and polar research

To coincide with a Newport Primary Schools science week, I prepared a giant jigsaw of an icebreaker, broken down into its functional components, for a class of 8 year olds. The Children assembled the jigsaw piece by piece and got to discuss the function of each bit, e.g. transport of supplies to bases, the CTD to study ocean climate – leading to discussion of climate change, hydrophone to study whales – discussion of whale stock management, etc.
