Emma Cameron and TJ Young were in Glasgow on Tuesday at the Podcast Studio, recording content for a “snow and ice” themed episode as part of the SAGES’ 10-part video podcast on climate change, funded by the Scottish Government’s Climate Engagement Fund. Over the course of an hour, TJ and Emma, along with Ailsa Guild (University of Dundee) and Laura Young (SAGES Digital Science Communications Intern) covered topics ranging from why the cryosphere matters for climate change, how cryospheric research investigates the past/present/future of glaciers and ice sheets, and how this impacts Scotland as well as the rest of the world. Other GSD faculty, including Lydia Cole, Bill Austin, and Mary Abed al Ahad, will also feature in subsequent episodes in the series, and our school is well-represented in the initiative! The podcast will go live in January 2025—stay tuned for its release in a few months!
