Description
CHR's Director Kim McKee delivered a keynote presentation at the 2015 Scottish Senior Officer's Event in North Lanarkshire on the 1st October 2015.Drawing on a number of recent CHR projects, Kim highlighted the evidence base the Centre has developed in relation to generational housing inequalities in Scotland and the UK. As well as emphasising how renting has become the 'new normal' for the under 35s, Kim argued for a more nuanced and sophisticated understanding of housing aspirations. She closed her presentation by reflecting on the implications of the research findings for social landlords in Scotland.
The two-day event, which was held in the Westerwood hotel in Cumbernauld, was attended by senior housing staff from local authorities and housing associations, as well as civil servants from the Scottish Government and voluntary sector organisations. It was organised jointely by EVH, the SFHA, ALACHO and CIH Scotland
