At Revisiting the Jacobites on Thursday 12 October, our guest panel will discuss their research and explore how collective memories of major historical events can challenge understanding.The event will be chaired by Dr Peter Mackay. Originally from the Isle of Lewis, Peter lectures in the School of English at University of St Andrews. The panel will consist of:
• Arran Johnston is a historian, costumed interpreter and author of On Gladsmuir Shall the Battle Be!: The Battle of Prestonpans 1745.
• Maggie Craig's first published book was the ground-breaking and acclaimed Damn' Rebel Bitches: The Women of the '45, which has become the recognized authority on the subject of female involvement in the Jacobite Rising of 1745.
• Prof. Robert Dunbar is Chair of Celtic and head of Celtic and Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
