Description

Dr Andrew Blaikie (Ophthalmologist) delivered a presentation on cerebral visual impairment (CVI) at the CP Scotland Annual Conference 2024. The presentation and a bespoke CVI-SIM simulation video were jointly developed by Dr Andrew Blaikie and Helen St Clair Tracy. The session aimed to raise awareness of CVI among individuals with cerebral palsy (CP), their families, carers, educators, and healthcare professionals. It explained CVI in accessible terms, highlighted the connections between cerebral palsy and cerebral visual impairment, and included a specially created CVI-SIM simulation, designed to provide a sense of the visual difficulties experienced by individuals with CVI and to build greater understanding and empathy across different groups.
