Physics and Astronomy Christmas Lecture 2025

Description

The Physics and Astronomy Christmas lecture event was organised by Dr Janet Lovett, with participation of PandA staff members Dr Anne-Marie Weijmans (lecturer), many staff, post docs and students at all levels acted as demonstrators (those with pure records are linked below). Also Mr Paul Donaldson, Dr Andrew Bunting, Mr David Gray, Miss Leah Stephen, and Mrs Lesley Aitken organised behind the scenes and are linked through Pure where they have a record.

The event was organised for S2 pupils of Madras college, who are enrolled in physics at their school. 125 S2 pupils, 15 S6 pupils and 6 teachers attended.

The pupils were split in 2 groups, with one group attending the 60-min Christmas lecture on 'The Secret Lives of Galaxies', and the other group attended the 14 physics demonstrations, staffed by volunteers of the School of Physics and Astronomy.
