Keynote Presentation on CVI-SIM Development and Insights at the 2024 CVI Society Annual Convention

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

Description

In October 2024, Helen St Clair Tracy delivered the keynote presentation at the CVI Society Annual Convention, a major international event focused on cerebral visual impairment. Her talk shared the development of CVI-SIM, a novel visual simulation tool designed to support understanding of the visual experiences of individuals with CVI. Using lay language to connect with a broad audience, Helen explained the journey of evolving understanding that led to the creation of the simulations, and how CVI-SIM is now helping to deepen knowledge of CVI. A CVI-SIM video was presented during the keynote to illustrate these experiences. The audience included parents and carers, children and adults with CVI, teachers, therapists, ophthalmologists, paediatricians, and leading researchers. This event contributed to growing international awareness and application of CVI-SIM within education, healthcare, and family contexts.
