Description
Helen St Clair Tracy delivered an invited keynote presentation to the Scottish Ophthalmological Club, attended by ophthalmologists and related eye health professionals. The talk focused on explaining cerebral visual impairment (CVI) in individuals with typical visual acuity, highlighting the likely prevalence of CVI in Scotland. It addressed the particular challenges CVI poses for reading, and discussed the role of poverty in Scotland in limiting understanding when complex written explanations are used. The keynote included a demonstration of a CVI-SIM video to illustrate the visual difficulties experienced by individuals with CVI and emphasised the need for greater clinical awareness and accessible communication strategies.
