Description

Italian Studies: In Theory and in Practice
The series invites scholars whose work has been shaping the field of Italian Studies to deliver a lecture divided into two parts. First, speakers will offer an overview of their academic journey, reflecting about the evolution of their own understanding and positioning within the discipline: what is Italian Studies to them? How has this notion changed through time? What is 'Italian' about Italian Studies? What methodologies do they employ? And what public do they envision for their work?
In the second part of the lecture, moving from theory to practice, each scholar will provide a sample of their work by presenting a case study from a recent or current research project. The Q&A will then be an opportunity to further discuss both the theoretical framework and the specific research project.
