Description
Hilda Flavia Nakabuye is a Ugandan climate and environmental rights activist. Fridays for Future Uganda is the largest youth movement in East Africa. Hilda is based in Kampala and focuses on raising awareness and mobilising young people towards climate action. Hilda organises clean-up sessions in Lake Victoria, fights for racial and gender justice, and also campaigns for a phase-out of fossil fuel.Hilda will present a keynote speech as part of the International Museums Conference and ICOFOM 47th Annual Assembly entitled Transnational Island Museologies, 5-7 June 2024, coordinated by the School of Art History.
Alissandra Cummins, Director of the Barbados Museum & Historical Society and member of the Advisory Board for the School of Art History-led Shared Island Stories research project, will chair the keynote speech.
This conference is part of the Shared Island Stories research project, which was selected by the European Research Council (ERC) and funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) with project reference EP/X023036/1. It is coordinated by the School of Art History at the University of St Andrews in collaboration with the International Council of Museums (ICOM)'s International Committee of Museology (ICOFOM).
